The Social Butterfly Effect

I’ve had a few blogging-related ideas recently, and one such idea I feel is worthy enough to actually blog about. The idea is this:

Sit downtown, laptop in.. well… lap, and blog; but you aren’t just blogging about anything, you’re blogging about what you see. Every time you meet a new person, you write a little blurb about them and take their picture. It then gets posted to your blog, and those people can come back to visit it later… not to mention all the other people already on the site that they could view.

This is a very rough idea, and it sounded much better when I was talking about it while eating my oven-roasted Chicken Bacon Ranch in a downtown subway. The idea behind this is to get everyday people who wouldn’t normally check out such blogs to go see what it’s all about since they now have a vested interest in the site (they’re on it!).

Of course there are a few things to work out: technology-wise this could definately work as most cities have free wireless access downtown these days, and the blogging software available today could defiantely handle the task, but the main problem is people; would people find this interesting? Would they be creeped out? Should this be done anonymously as my girlfriend Rachel suggested? What are the legal implications of taking someone’s picture in a crowded metropolitan area without their consent?

I’m not too sure if this idea will ever make it past my blogging about it, but it would definately be an interesting project.

I just got done/viewing The Butterfly Effect. Took me a while to get through it. This movie is definately worth watching a few times. Worked best for me on the new Cox where you can take in some of the movie and go back within 24 hours and watch more for free. This is a really great movie - there is just so much to take in that it took me a while to get it. Thx Ashton.

Got something to say?

Blah blah blah...
