Get Your Technics MKII’s Pitch Back in Line

I stumbled accross a link on PitchedUp.Net’s forum about how to get your Technics’ MKII turntables back to “true zero.” If you’re interested, check it out!

Now, for those who don’t know what I’m talking about, let me explain just what setting your turntable back to “true zero” rally does. After a while, the pitch shifter on the MKII turntable will fall out of alignment, so that when you move your pitchshifter back into the MKII’s middle click of death, it’s not REALLY going at the speed the record was meant to be played, it’s either running faster or slower. You can follow the steps outlined in the article above to remedy this problem… and while you’re at it, why don’t you just remove the middle click of death all together!

Of course, only fiddle under the hood of your decks if you’re really comfortable with what you’re doing, I don’t want you whining to me if you bust your shit up.

If you want any more info about tuning up your MKII decks or adding a few nifty features yourself (see Adjusting Your Breaking, check out the (fairly out-dated) Technics SL1200 FAQ.
