Google Text Ads: Protect Your Rhinoceros!
Earlier today I had searched Google for the term “rhinoceros” and while my eyes are normally trained to skip over the advertisements on the resulting pages, one Text ad in specific caught my attention:
Protect Your Rhinoceros
Rhinoceros Patent Information.
Patents, Trademarks, Copyrights
www.SomeWebsite.com
Yes, that’s right. Protect Your Rhinoceros. You never know when someone is going to develop a new rhinoceros just like yours, and you damn well want to be sure you get your rhinoceros royalties.
Really though.
I find it funny that advertisers will incorperate names or words pertaining to current events, popular celetrities, or anything else that people search google for, in their Adsense ads so that when users search for something uncommon, say a certain African herbivore, they get ads trying to sell them insurance or, in this case, protecting my Rhinosaros! Isn’t that against Google’s Adsense TOS or something?
Nonsensical Ads, I mean. Not Rhinos.
