Google Toolbar for Firefox
I arrive at work about an hour early every day, not because I’m a keener, but because the public transit system in my city just plain sucks. To occupy myself I can usually be found doing one of two things: smoking many more cigarettes than I really should, or fiddling away with something on my work PC. Today, because it was a balmy 42°C with the humidex, I decided it was best to stay inside sitting at the air conditioned oasis that is my desk.
After surfing around for a while, I finally cracked. At work we’re required to use IE6, whereas at home I use Firefox exclusively. The main reason? Ease of google searches! Google is king, and IE is definitely lacking in this department. Enter the Google Toolbar! I hope most of you are familiar with this tool, and if not, check it out!
“Yeah, yeah. The Google Toolbar has existed for years, that’s nothing new.”
But wait, there’s more!
There is now a Firefox version of the toolbar available! Rejoice!
Of course Google searching is already built into Firefox, but the toolbar offers many more features like spell checking web forms (useful for bloggers), a translator and Page Rank (?) info, not to mention an AutoFill option for quickly filling out webforms, and also a pretty nifty AutoLink (US only) option that turns street addresses into links to online maps.
I love Google, and I love their toolbar, so I definitely suggest giving this new Firefox extension a look. Happy browsing!
